Arod joins the 500 club

After patiently waiting for 9 days, Alex Rodriguez belted career homerun 500. Rodriguez pounced all over the first pitch he saw of the game. Rodriguez’s 500th homerun was a first inning three-run shot to the left-field seats. Kyle Davies of the Kansas City Royals gave up the historic homerun. Rodriguez was greeted at home plate by Derek Jeter and Bobby Abreu (who he knocked in) and the rest of the Yankee staff followed shortly behind. As Rodriguez made his way through the Yankee hug maze, he blew a kiss to his on looking wife and daughter. This was truly a memorable moment for not only Alex Rodriguez and Yankee fans, but for all of baseball. With today’s historic homer, Rodriguez becomes the youngest player to ever reach 500 career homeruns. Rodriguez is 32 years and 8 days old, breaking Jimmy Foxx’s previously held record of 32 years and 338 days old. In addition to hitting career homerun 500 today, Rodriguez became the first player in the history of baseball to score 100 runs, hit 35+ homers, and record 100 RBIs in 10 consecutive seasons.
